About

As the nation’s leading expert on child support guidelines formulas, Venohr has worked with over 35 states to develop and review their formulas. This generally includes developing child support tables and formulas based on economic evidence on the cost of raising children, but it also includes analyzing data on how the guidelines are applied. Venohr has conducted in-depth research on over a dozen specific child support issues (e.g., child support assurance, behavioral interventions in child support, TANF and SNAP cooperation requirements, interest on arrears, employment programs, payment predictive models, medical support, universal applications, full passthrough and disregard, voluntary parentage acknowledgment, staffing standards, and review and adjustment). Venohr has also conducted research for many different social welfare programs: child care assistance, Medicaid, and housing assistance. Venohr has published in the Family Law Quarterly and the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
