Dr. Jane Venohr presented at the 2016 National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA) Leadership Symposium held in New Orleans July 31 – August 3.
Presentation Description
Dr. Venohr (Economist/Research Associate, CPR) opened for a panel that explored the growth in unassigned child support debt and policies to address it. This is an emerging issue of concern as child support policy embraces right sizing of child support orders to ensure all orders accurately reflect the obligated parents’ ability to pay. Many low-income obligated parents also have debt assigned to the state and the custodial parent. To date, arrears compromise programs focus on state-owed debt.
